Part of your screening will involve a sanctions check. This is a government search run against international watch lists to check for individuals that pose a threat to international peace or security, or for Politically exposed persons (aka PEPs).

Politically exposed persons are people with a specific position in public life that might make them vulnerable to corruption. The definition extends to immediate family members and known close associates or confidants.

Criminal activity that may result in being included on a sanctions list includes (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Terrorist activity and financing terrorists
  • The construction and/or financing of weapons and arms
  • Human rights violations
  • Money Laundering

The results are based on your name, date of birth and nationality. If a matching result is found, we will investigate further to determine if it relates to you specifically. Most matches are deemed not to be relevant to the candidate we are screening, however if we believe the results to be a match to yourself, we must relay this information to your future employer. It is then your employer's decision as to whether they continue with your screening based on this information.

If you believe it is likely we will find a match or you are concerned about the possible results, the best thing is to talk to your employer, as they are the ones who will make a decision based on any information found.

If you do wish to contact us directly, you can call us on 0333 33 26 200. Our opening hours are Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed on Bank Holidays and for the period between Christmas and New Years.
