As part of UK law, all employees must have a right to work check carried out regardless of where you were born. The right to work check is done via the Credas site and is a Digital Identity Verification check. Once your screening has started you will receive a separate email with a link, where you can either download the Credas app or use a desktop site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The link will expire once you have started the process, and a new link CANNOT be generated.

This process is separate to your application form. You must use a device with a forward-facing camera and have your identification document ready, as once the process has started you cannot leave the site and come back to it. There is a one link per candidate limit, if your link becomes invalid we cannot generate a new link. Passports have a more successful pass rate than any other form of identification.

There is a step-by-step guide available to view and download HERE.

Basic Process:

  1. Click on the link in the email
  2. Follow the instructions to download the right to work app or continue to desktop site.
  3. Click start
  4. Take a clear photo of the full Identity Document (Passports have the highest pass rate, please ensure the full page showing your photo and the MRZ number is visible, as the example below shows)
  5. Click next
  6. Follow the instructions to take a selfie to verify likeness
  7. Click complete

Your Digital Identity Verification will likely fail unless you take full, clear, legible picture of your passport. You must take a picture of the page showing your photograph and full personal details. Please do not try to take a picture of the front cover or any other page in your passport.

If this check fails or you cannot complete the process, your employer will need to carry out the check in house. They will be informed of this and will contact you regarding the next steps. The rest of your screening will not be affected.

Please ensure all four corners of the page are within the frame in the picture you take. All details must be clearly visible and legible, including the full alphanumeric strip (or MRZ code) along the bottom, and your photograph. Please ensure there is no glare or dark shadows and nothing is obscuring any part of the passport.

It may also be rejected if you have taken the picture too close or too far away. Please adjust the distance between the camera and passport and try again. Common reasons for failure include:

  • The picture is too dark or too blurry
  • There is a glare, shadow or something else obscuring the document
  • You have taken the picture too close or too far away from the document
  • All four corners are not in the frame
  • You have taken a picture of the wrong page of your passport or the wrong side of your identity card
  • The document you are using has expired
